VCL-24ULS, 270 GPH Automatic Condensate Removal Pump w/ Safety Switch (115V)

This pump replaced a unit that had been in place since before we bought our house in early 2004. The pump not only pumps the condensation from the A/C coil over a hallway into a deep sink, but in the winter it pumps the water used in our de-humidifier over to the deep sink. This pump works great and is VERY quiet!! Plus, having free shipping AND receiving it the next day was OUTSTANDING!

I used this pump to replace one on my daughter's air conditioner system. The old one was cheaply made and had only lasted about a 1 1/2 years. This one looked more robust and had most features I needed. I had to buy a separate tubing adapter with a check valve in it. The check valve I bought was sold as a companion piece for this pump. As it turned out this check valve failed almost immediately after I put the pump in service. I wrote a separate review for the check valve. I ended up buying a separate check valve from another vendor that installs inline with the tubing that works as it should. I would suggest that this pump be sold with a good quality check valve since it is not furnished with one. Trying to install a siphon system in an attic situation is not always doable as was my case. To me a reliable check valve should always be sold with a pump of this kind to prevent back flow conditions. The other thing is this pump was not furnished with any mounting clips so it could be hung on a mounting surface. I bought a small shelf and angle brackets to mount the pump on. Then I removed the pump assembly from the reservoir and attached the reservoir by installing two screws through the top edge of the reservoir to assure the pump could not be accidentally knocked over and the self got the pump elevated off of the floor about 6" up to keep it out of harms way. The pump and overflow level switch work fine. I tested the overflow switch to ensure it would turn off the AC unit by unplugging the pump and filling the pump reservoir till the AC turned off. Then plugged the pump back in. The pump brought the level back down and the AC unit came back on as it should. I believe this to be a good pump but it could be a great pump if it came with a good check valve and some mounting brackets.
