I can't seem to update my previous review, so this is an update to my first review.
Avoid this Oatley Hammer Arrestor and get the Sioux Chief version. The rating of the hammer arrester is the same which is a AA, but Sioux Chief version worked while the Oatley one did not. I suggest avoiding Oatley if possible because their company is incompetent. Read more below.
I have an LG washing machine that caused water hammering. I bought this Oatley hammer arrestor despite seeing bad reviews of it. Indeed, it did not work. I ran my laundry a few times just in case the device needed some break-in period. No luck.
I reached out to Oatley technical support at
[email protected] to see if they have any suggestions because my "hammer arrestor is not working" and the "hammering continues". I'm thinking, maybe it's me, and I'll ask the experts.
Their technical support told me, "If you still hear a banging noise, check to see if enough straps are holding the pipes in place. If not, add more. Using clips and plumber's tape will further restrict pipe movement." I don't need to be a plumber to know this was a ridiculous response. I have water hammering, and they told me to strap my pipes.
I bought the Sioux Chief version, which worked on my first laundry wash. My hammer problem is solved.
I thought Oatley was a big, reputable brand, but their product is defective, yet they continue to sell it. Their support is also just a flat-out waste of time. I recommend avoiding their brand if possible.
