I've installed a number of these and they're fine. More and more insurance companies are requiring them for policy renewal if for expensive houses. It will turn off the water due to a catastrophic failure and prevent the outside of your house from becoming a frozen waterfall but they're slow to respond to normal run of the mill leaks. Had one last week that shut off after a toilet flapper was stuck open but not after using 200 gallons of water. Thankfully it all went down the sewer but 200 gallons of water on the floor is still going to ruin your day. The connectivity is frustrating to set up and maintain but that's a whole different issue. Ideally you have this plus a bunch of sensors at all the common leak areas to shut the water off instantly if there's an issue. Just don't be under the impression that this thing will save you from a flood of any size, but will probably keep a 5 figure insurance claim from being a 6 figure insurance claim. Upon set up there might be some extra time and money while the plumber runs the initial test and goes to find and fix every little leak in the house that the device is picking up to let it give the certificate to the insurance company. It is very good at finding stray water usage but if you have a large older house this can be a long process. Always plumb in a bypass too, and show the homeowner how to use it, I get 1-4 service calls per year per device usually the app isn't working or they don't know how, or refuse to touch a ball valve.
