Works fine
It's pretty basic. Had a slight issue with removing the knob to get the screw in and then getting it back on, but it worked. Don't push too hard on the face of the unit or you'll have to recalibrate it with the adjustment screw.

Item has some design issues
The thermostat has a design flaw. The contacts remain closed when screwed in to a junction box. It works fine outside of the box, but once it is screwed in and the slightest pressure is applied to the top screw the contacts close. If I screw it in but leave it loose it will work, but then it is not mounted securely to the wall and moves side to side on the mounting slot. This is the second one I tried and the same issue. Thought the first one was defective.

this is not a cooling thermostat as labeled.
the thermostat contacts open on a rise of temp. this is a heating thermostat.

i would definately by this product again
We bought this product to control our swamp cooler. it regulates the coolness that we want in the room and shuts off when it needs to.

Q: I am looking at the Robertshaw 803A cooling thermostat for an old 120V window A/C. What kind of amperage will this thermostat handle? The A/C is rated at 9 amps, but I suspect that the surge amps could be as high as 15.
