Old school, industrial strength

Had an old, basic dehumidifier that just did what it was supposed to do, and did it for a very long time. I don't think it actually quit working, but got left behind when we moved. Then came a string of fancy, feature packed, sleek models that did everything but work for any reasonable length of time. The Compact70 does not have any bells and whistles. No Bluetooth, wifi, or digital display. It just has a simple knob that you turn to set the humidity level - just like on our old dehumidifier. I love it! Now, if it only lasts as long as it looks like it will.

keeps breaking

This unit really has me upset for the amount of money I spent on it. At 1 year mark it broke. I hired local HVAC company to fix it and they bought a replacement part and fixed it and worked for 2 months and broke again for the same reason. Expensive trash. Its in a conditioned crawlspace which stays around 64 to 68 degrees. It didnt work hard and had the dial setting at about 6:30 oclock. No where near running all the time.

Clearly Unreliable

Much like Jeff in AL, I bought mine in 2019, it went out in 2022, to their credit they sent a new replacement, but this time I noticed it had clearly labeled Chinese parts in it. It lasted a season and a half, now in 2024 the replacement is out. I doubt this time they'll replace it, but even if they do, they obviously have quality control problems.

Running strong removing moisture

Self install is easy. Works great removing moisture. Would recommend. 2400sf crawlspace that has sweating ducts. After install, humidity dropped 15%. Ducts stopped sweating. Problem solved. Thank you!

Really well made machine

My review might be updated in a few years. I've been using inexpensive big-box store units for a decade or so, and they generally last about two years. Cost-wise, it's probably a wash to buy cheap ones that don't last long, but my problem is in the past, they fail when I'm out of town for a few weeks, so I come home to a musty-smelling house. This unit seems really well made, so we'll see. I'll be back to update this review.

Had one installed in 2017. it went out in 2020. It was replaced and replacement is out less than 2 years later. Good luck.

Buy

Great unit seems to work 10 times better than store-bought dehumidifiers And it doesn't have to overwork to get the job done/advice from 40 years of Plumbing

Works well for our Basement

This is a great dehumidifier. Runs quietly and efficiently. I have had a similar model from the same manufacturer running in my basement for 8 years. I bought this one, since that old one needs to be recharged, but it is still working. Much better, more efficient, and less expensive to run than the typical dehumidifier from a big box stores. I was wearing one of those out every year before I switched to the Santa Fe model. Shipping was prompt and the communication from SH was good.
