Description
–
The SharkBite Push-To-Connect Anti-Siphon Frost-Free Sillcock has a 1/2" push-fit inlet that is compatible with Copper, PEX, CPVC, or PE-RT pipes and a 3/4" MHT outlet. It has an integrated hose bibb with a durable forged body for strength. The multi turn shut off valve is located at the inlet of the sillcock to help with freeze resistance and allows for the regulation of water flow. The valve comes with an integrated mounting flange to secure it to the mounting surface. There is also an integrated air gap back flow prevention system to prevent any potential back-siphonage.

Good choice
I have been doing some remodeling to my laundry room and decided it would be beneficial to add another hose Bibb by my hot tub. I did not want to braze or thread any pipe so I checked out the Sharkbite site to see if they sold a Sharkbite hose Bibb, which of course they do. I purchased the hose Bibb, 1/2 tubing, a cutter, and a Sharkbite tee. Before you know it I had running water by my hot tub. It was simple, quick and did not involve any torches or threaded fittings. Now I have confidence to tackle my shower remodel with Sharkbite fittings.

Caution, Sharks bite.....
These sillcocks are easy to install, the length is good (for installing through thick sills and deep insulation), and it functions as it should. But I bet the designers haven't used the actual handle much, or else they'd notice that it's downright unpleasant to grab a hold of and turn. I got so tired of the "bite" every time I turned it on and off that I cut it down as pictured. It might not be very pretty any more, but it doesn't hurt to turn....a sea star is a better shape for a handle than a shark, I guess.

This is why I love the flexibility to transition from copper
This is why I love the flexibility to transition from copper to cpvc to pex. I remove a still talk from a CPVC system and was able to use this shark bite hose connection without the need of using that funky CPVC glue. Keeping the jobs cost where it needed to be and not have to purchase glue that I would eventually just need for one job because CPVC doesn't come around that often. Plus it's one good looking hose bibb too!
