Inferior Quality
I used one of these tees in my irrigation setup. Four days after I installed it, it cracked, causing my storage tank to empty and my booster pump to run dry, possibly damaging the latter in the process.
I compared this and other Spears branded fittings to other brands and found that all the Spears fittings are much thinner walled than the same fittings from other brands. This might work ok for slip connections, but I will certainly avoid the Spears brand for all my threaded fittings!
