Right for the rail
I used theTaco for a copper handrail. It fit on the face of the 4x4 post, which a regular flange would not have fit on.

Worth the extra dollars
Makes a cleaner looking job. Great buffer between copper pipe and CI pump. Sturdy, unlike some bronze plated copper threaded flanges. No MIP adapter to buy. No threaded joint to leak.
