If you go to http://www.taco-hvac.com/search.html and search you can easily find a library of helpful guides, including information for zone valve installation and wiring guides for many models, including the 1" 572 that you need.
It takes 90 seconds to open completely.
No, each zone valve can only accommodate one thermostat.
Taco does not offer a thermal zone valve that is normally opened. They only offer a motorized zone valve that is normally open.
The RMB-1 can handle as many zones as its 008 pump can accommodate. They must first be wired to a zone valve controller.
This zone valve is normally closed.
No, they are not.
It appears that you either have a short in the wire or the power head needs to be replaced.
If you are registering 24 volts with a voltmeter, it is probably a wiring issue.
The best way to determine whether or not the valve is wired up correctly would be to make sure you are certain of where each wire leads. To wire the valve by color is probably possible, but it is better to do it with certain knowledge of what goes where. You can determine whether the power head is working properly by removing the wires from screw terminals 1 and 2 and taking an ohm reading across them. If the reading is not between 18 and 23 ohms, the power head likely needs to be replaced.
