The WiFi Snow Melting Control 671 operates hydronic and electric heating equipment designed to melt snow and/or ice from roads and walkways surfaces. The control works with tekmar Snow/Ice Sensor 090 or Snow Sensor 095 to automatically detect snow or ice and operates a single boiler, steam valve or electric cable to supply heat to the slab.

This Tekmar 671 is GREAT!
I replaced my Tekmar 665 snowmelt controller (that was working fine, by the way) with the 671 model. this new one was easy to install. there are only a couple of differences in how they are wired and it is easy for most anyone to do. you don't even have to remove the old unit from the wall completely to swap it to the new unit (that'll make sense when you get it). but what is so great about it is:
1) it connects to the internet to allow your area to pre-heat when a snow is forecasted... only if you want this feature and you can customize how it works.
2) it can provide alerts to it's users (and others that you choose) via either Push notifications on your phone, or via emails or via text, (or any two or three of those).
3) it allows very nice customization settings for how you may want your system to work.
I also need to comment that one other review stated that the iphone app had almost no capabilities. this is old information! the newest version of the app (from 1/2024) has almost any functionality that you can do from the unit, as far as i can tell.

Right part for my needs.
671 replaced my Tekmar 665 that failed after 14 years. This controller is needed for snow melting on the entry way to my garage. Not many places carry this part. First contacted Tekmar to double check that 665 was no longer available. Supply House had the lowest price and publishes the manuals on their site.
Installed 95% directly as the 665 in about 30 minutes. Functions perfectly. Hope it lasts longer than the 665 did.

Overpriced for poor performance of wifi
WiFi is a joke. Connection to network unstable and does not work most of the time. Also app functions are minimal. Can just turn on or off remote. Appears they developed WiFi just to increase the price

Perfect replacement for the previous version of the control
I wanted to upgrade to a WiFi capable control for my snow melt system. The old control was 15 years old even though it was working fine, but I decided to make the replacement anyway. The 671 came in the same housing as the old one so it was an incredibly easy swap out, probably took 15 minutes and I was up and running again. Unfortunately, TekMar's iPhone application has a lot to be desired and only provides the bare minimum of control or monitoring. Basically, it just allows you to turn on the system and tells you if it is running. They need to enhance the app much more in order to make an upgrade to the 671 anywhere near worth the price.
