it will work without it.
I do not use one. I used the floor sensor that came with the controller, but everything that I was doing was inside
Floor sensor should work. Sent from my iPhone
the floor sensor should work fine.
The slab prob will work great. Just set the thermostat to room instead of slab. Sent from my U.S. Cellular® Smartphone
best to put it in a drilled hole in the floor
Assuming concrete floors, you drill a hole for the sensor and stick it in. A heat conducting compound of some kind in with it will make it more responsive.
Their using the slab setting, the sensor should be installed in a plastic tube inside the cement floor.Otherwise set to room sensor and have it hanging from the wall or ceiling.
you can do that. it worked okay just had fine a spot that nobody would walk on it. I did mine on top of floor until I was able to get under my hard wood flooring
You can. You will just need to wire the circulator and thermostat to a proper control.
Thats what mine does. Its nice because you can set it up to maintain a set air temperature or use the probe to maintain a set floor temperature. Using the probe to maintain a set floor temperature is what I do. You want to keep the slab steady instead of hot to cold all the time. Its a good controller and has all the functions you will need.
I use one in my garage infloor heating works great.
I have used these to control a Taco zone relay board that activates valves to in floor heating Yes
Yes, you can use this thermostat with Taco zone valves.

The temperature range is 35 to 100°F.
This unit is a hardwire unit. You will need to supply it with 24 volts power, as it does not use batteries.
