(A3100101) is designed
for precise temperature
control of hydronic radiant
heating applications.
The thermostat uses fully automatic differential and pulse width modulation (PWM) control functions to ensure each radiant zone is comfortable and energy efficient.
It can operate a radiant heating system based on the air sensor measuring operative temperature, a floor sensor, or a combination of both to provide the optimal level of comfort and control.
The thermostat also allows the use of a floor sensor (A9010599) to measure floor temperature for enhanced comfort and to protect the surface from overheating.

Great digital thermostat for in-floor radiant heat
I bought 4 of these about a month ago to replace cheap mercury switch thermostats that were the originally installed thermostats in a 10 year old house. My house only had 2 wires running to each thermostat so I had to buy one that didn't need a 3rd wire for power supply. These new stats are far superior with simple up/down temperature adjustment with digital readout of ambient air temp and temp set point. My house seems to hold a much more consistent temperature. I'll have to wait another month to see how the gas bill compares but it seems the boiler isn't on as much. Hopefully the pulse modulation is working to control temp and boiler run time. Installation was simple with just 2 wires. I highly recommend these for a hydronic in-floor radiant heat system.

OK thermostat-instructions could be better
After a lot of frustration and 2 calls to Uponor I have a working thermostat. Instructions only show wiring to an uponor zone control. Thermostat only uses 2 wires which if wired as illustrated in manual will not power the thermostat. You must jumper the common to W terminal on a Taco zone control with a resistor. I suspect this is the same for other brands as well. This whole problem could have been avoided with some better instructions and possibly a wiring diagram for non Uponor zone controls.

Not recommended
This is the worst thermostat I have ever seen as a builder. Poor backlight. Touch screen is not very responsive. The thermostat died this winter during the cold snap where heat was needed most. I'm surprised this company makes such a low quality product.

A solid product
It's a solid product and was very easy to install. The only downside of the product is the screen does not have a back light. The manufacturer should add this to the device as it's hard to see without a back light.

I would buy this product again
This is used for hydronic floor heating only. Works well. A back lit screen would be nice for a dimly lit hallway mount.

I have a mixed opinion of this product
I used this product to replace a 20 year old version of this Thermostat. I do not like the hinge feature of the faceplate. It is easy to mount the back portion of the assembly but difficult to line up the header pins when hinging over the faceplate. I may use another brand in the future.

Expensive and High Failure Rate
When these work they are fine. In my experience with about 20-30 installs I have had 2 come bad out of the box and 4 more fail in the first 3 years. I have also had 2 floor sensors go bad. For the price a backlit screen should be included. These are hard to see in many lighting conditions.
