Way to tight, damages the PEX

The opening in this support is WAY too tight. It's next to impossible to even get the PEX started going through it (yes, I'm using Uponor PEX, for which this was designed), and when you do, it scratches all the coating off down to the clear tubing, and sometimes leaves scratches in the clear tubing, too. I was afraid it was damaging and weakening the PEX, so I pulled it back out, removed the support, and cut off the 10 feet of PEX I had already pulled through it.

Good through wall/floor support

I used the product to support the supply lines going to the toilets in a remodel/re-plumb with wood subfloor. The product functions well and provides good functional support for the pex, fitting and shutoff valve. Works as advertised and gives a finished look due to the product as the pex is stabilized also having a chrome finish makes for a clean and finished look. Wish product was made in USA, but I know... That would be to hard to ask. This is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.

Nice Finish

These look great when passing through a wall, or protect well against tile when drilling through a bathroom floor. The length is just right to pass through the sub floor, masonite, and tile and finish flush with the bathroom surface. When using with a floot an Escution ring then covers the hole mess up. Only negative i have is that the holes are to small, only a #4 wood screw will fit, which doesn't lend well to drywall.

Great product in theory

Half the time I went to slip one of these onto the end of a pex tube, it was an incredibly TIGHT fit. So tight that I was unable to use this product in all of the places I wanted. It would strip all of the colored coating right off the PEX if I forced it on. But again, only had this issue half the time and don't know why. The Uponor PEX I was using came from this supplier too, and was 100% straight where trying to fit through support. Won't by this type of support again!

Looking for clean finish?

One of the things I like best about Pex - other than the fact it works and makes retrofits a breeze - is the look. I know, under the floor and in the wall who sees it, right? But there's always a point where the plumbing meets the ficture, and that's usually an ugly hole with maybe a escutcheon, a nice hiding place for bugs and germs! Pex metal straight-through supports solves that problem in an elegant manner, and in the process, also eliminates the possibility of drafts.

Q: What is the Outside Diameter of the tube in this support? With this information, I can determine what size hole to drill through my floor without having the part in hand.

The ones I received measure .748 inches OD. So, theoretically they would fit through and square up to a 3/4 of an inch hole if the alignment was perfect, but I expect a 13/16 or 7/8 inch hole would be more practical.

The outside diameter is 3/4". It might be pretty snug in a 3/4" hole but it should fit.

That support accepts a 5/8 tube. outside diameter of the support is about three quarters. I drill a one inch hole when using that support Sent from my U.S. Cellular® smartphone

Q: Does your stop valve for your sink or toliet sit directly on top of the metal support after your pex protrudes through the floor?

Yes. Lloyd

The clamping ring sits on top of the support, the valve sits above this. Cut the tubing so you have some play. This can be pushed back into the wall or floor afterwards.

Q: What are the dimensions(of both the square and the length of the tube)? This is for pex coming up thru the floor, what is the best practice for securely connecting a stop valve when the water line exits a Sheetrock wall under a lav/sink?

Each side of the square measures 3" and the support covers about 3-1/2" inches of the tube.

I use these for support when going up through the floor. Rather than through the wall.
