This model is the same as the Watts 9D Model. The expansion tank i son the return line, assuming it is a hydronic application.
Hi, If you're putting this device in a line which has an expansion tank you may be using it for the wrong purpose. Here's a link to the installation literature for the product: http://media2.wattswater.com/1910237.pdf. Note that there's no expansion tank shown in the diagram. The only thing I can add is that the backflow preventer should be the first device in the supply line, after the shutoff valve. So, if you do have an expansion tank, for some reason, it most likely would be on the outlet side of the backflow preventer. Hope this helps. Mark S.
