Description

Note: This image does not represent actual product. This model comes with copper press connections.

Watts LF1170 Lead Free Hot Water Temperature Control Valves are specifically designed for mixing hot and cold water on hot water supply systems. They can be used for a variety of applications to reduce the temperature of the hot water from the system, and are ideal for radiant heat applications. This series features a "double throttling" design which combines the control of the hot and cold water to provide a sensitive response to changes in water temperature passing through the mixing chamber. The Watts 1170-M2 can be set to any temperature between 90+F and 160+F (60+F and 120+F for model L1170-M2) with flow rates as low as 0.5 gpm and as high as 23 gpm. The superior flow characteristics of this valve provide accurate temperature control to the requirements of ASSE 1017 across the rated flow range. These valves also provide additional safety as they restrict mixed water out to a drip upon loss of cold water supply to the valve. As an added feature, the 1170-M2, L1170-M2 series incorporates integral check valves and filter washers in both the hot and cold water inlets to protect against cross flow. Maximum Pressure: 150psi (10 bar).

Quality product -works vey well

I purchased this mixing valve to reduce the temperature of my hot water from my tankless coil on my oil furnace. I was easy to install, instructions were very good and I have reduced my hot water to exactly 120 degrees at the tap (I checked it with a digital thermometer). The water had been nearly 145 degrees prior to installing this device. I no longer have to worry about someone being burned by the excessively hot water.

Did I get a dud?

I bought this mixing valve to replace a similar Watts valve that had been in service for over two decades before finally succumbing to scale. Unfortunately this valve did not perform well. After performing the setup process, the output temperature would be fine for a day or two then drift off, sometimes by as much as 10 degrees. After resetting it several times over a few weeks, I finally gave up and replaced it with a Resideo Braukmann valve. The replacement has been rock solid since install.

Correct part with the help of customer support

I worked with the Supply House team to verify the product was what was needed. Easy to install and solved my issue with supplying enough heat to my in floor system.

The Best Mixing Valve

The shower used to go hot and cold because the old mixing valve stopped adjusting the water temp as the furnace cycled on and off. The hot water is from a tankless coil. The new mixing valve has brought the shower back to a pleasure!

Product Q&A

ASK A QUESTION

Q: My daughters new home barely has warm water coming from the hot water tank. There is aperiod of perhape 3 seconds when water is uncomfortably hot. There could not possibly be any sanitizing /steralizing action. by this water for clothes, dishes or or bodies. I discovered this mixing valve on top of the hot water tank. The handle has the following info"Watts 1070c-M2" mixing valve. I can find no info on the valve in the hwtk info. I finally discovered the mixing valve. A surprising observation was that the cold water supply(inlet) is probably hotter than the hot water outlet. Having a maintenance background I would expect to be able to adjust the valve but so far could not budge the handle. Reluctant to use brute force w/o some info on how the valve is supposed to work. I found the water heater to be set to maximum temperature. I see this to be rather dangerous. I reduced the temp to ~115 deg from 190 Deg. Do you have any info on how the valve works and how to set it up?

Q: how much do these valves restrict the water flow through them? I have two alpha pumps, one on a radiant manifold after the mixing valve, and another on a baseboard manifold. The baseboard pump delivers 6 gpm and the radiant only 2. I provided bypass loops directly between send and return manifold for the radiant to eliminate the concern of head causing the differences and there was no change. I switched the pumps and no change. Bad valve restricting the flow?

Yes, it is.

Q: does this control without the use of a controller? if so, how does the valve move to maintain temperature? and, do they come in lower temp ranges?

This is a manual mixing valve. You would manually set it to whatever temperature you would like within the range indicated. For the same mixing valve with a lower temperature range, there are several on our website. They are model: L1170-UT M2, which are low-temp mixing valves. You can view these models on the following link on our website: http://www.pexsupply.com/Watts-1170-Mixing-Valves-709000
