must have for floor heat
Don't try to use a regular thermostate without a floor sensor for radaint heat.

Q: Will the sensor fit into a 3/16" grout space?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffThe sensor has a 3/16" diameter. It can be placed in grout, but it sounds like it would be a tight squeeze.

Q: What is the diameter of the end of the sensor. We are placing a pex pipe in the concrete floor to feed the sensor into. If it ever fails, we can pull it out and feed a new one in. We want to know what size of pex it would feed into!

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffThe slab sensor is supplied with 10’ of cable. If a longer length is required, 24 AWG or larger wire can be spliced onto the two wires from the sensor. The splices should be properly soldered and protected in an accessible junction box.

Q: How can you retrofit for radiant floor heat when tubing has been installed and finished tile completed? Please advise.

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffYou can place the sensor behind a piece of molding down by the floor, or if you have access to under the floor in a joist bay, you may place the sensor on the sub-floor by drilling a pilot hole in which to place the sensor.
