Description

ProPEX Brass Elbow with MIP makes 90-degree connections for 1/2" Uponor PEX tubing to 1/2" male NPT thread.

Uponor's lead-free brass transition fittings, valves and wall boxes carry the NSF us-pw-G marking for lead-free compliance to meet state lead-free legislation, and exceed the U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act. Now you can combine lead-free brass fittings with Uponor's PEX tubing, EP offering and ProPEX Out-of-the-Wall Support System for a complete lead-free solution from the inlet to the faucet. The new lead-free offerings feature Uponor's unique ProPEX fitting system for strong, durable connections without the need for torches, glues, solvents or gauges.

Quality Plumbing Parts

I prefer the brass over plastic fittings because I've had plastic ones leak but never a brass.

Best choice for challenging installations

Had an installation which required installation of water lines in an unseated attic. Previous install used plastic elbows which did not provide any advantage during reinstalling water lines with the addition of heat tapes to a total freeze event. All plastic fittings were discarded due to eventual leaks that occurred after thaw. Brass fitings, though considerably more expensive, were the best long term solution to this problematic install. They were also easier to disconnect use to customer changes. Plastic could not be relied on to properly seal after heat was applied (heat gun). I did not experience any problems in that regard with the brass fittings. Plastic were fine in all conditioned spaces.

Hi Yes they will. Most shower valve are female national pipe thread. Thanks Nick

Hi There, First off, congratulations on switching over to PEX. I have an older home I'm remodeling and found it to be affordable, and very easy to set up and use. I bought a Manabloc and expansion tool which may have made my job even easier. To answer your question, it'll all depend on the size of your shower valve. You may need an adapter. I found the pex fittings to be compatible with all of the plumbing supplies I purchased so hopefully that'll help! Take care and good luck, Karen

Yes, The 1/2" elbow uses a tapered thread design. This tapered thread design is identified by any one of 3 labels. NPT= National Pipe Thread MIP= Male Iron Pipe FIP=Female Iron Pipe. As long as your 2 fittings has one of these labels, they will work together.

yes it will work if shower valve is 1/2" FIP

Was this review helpful to you?
-

Yes. MIP stands for Male Iron or International Pipe Thread. The Female threads on the shower valve will be the same standard pipe thread. Use about three wraps of Teflon tape or pipe sealing compound and you should be all set.

Was this review helpful to you?
-

Yes, as long as the female threads on the shower valve are 1/2" pipe threads and not threads for flare or compression tubing fittings. Wes Sims

It should fit. I believe most shower valves have 1/2" female pipe threads.

Q: Where is the 1/2" pex version of this? I am looking for 1/2" pex x 1/2" pex ProPEX LF Brass Elbow. the model should be LF4710500. Do you carry such part?

Uponor no longer offers a 1/2" ProPEX elbow in brass. The only option is the EP version, part Q4760500.
