The corrugated plastic piping (sold by local hardware store) worked for me. You can always adapt to whatever you need.
Non-automatic pumps must be turned on manually. Automatic pumps turn on at set intervals in order to detect the presence of water.
Because this pump does not have it's own integral 'on/off' switch mechanism. You must supply the control as a seperate device.
