WX-250-G (Gray), 44 Gal WELL-X-TROL Well Tank (Steel Stand)

Installed and works as expected. Bottom rim was a bit banged up but easy to straighten out and did not impact anything.

Had tank for 5 years now and working great. Expect to last another couple decades if it performs like my other Well-X-Trol water tank.

I ordered this tank from SupplyHouse as it was not avalible locally, and based on its design features and the brand having a great reputation for quality. The first tank arrived damaged, I was surprised to see the tank was packed only in a carton just big enough to hold it, with no additional padding. Sure enough, there was a flat dent near the top and the base was bent in several places. The base I could have dealt with but the dent in the tank was unacceptable, so I returned it. The second tank also arrived dented, this time near the bottom from what appeared to be an impact from something pointed, the base of that tank was also bent. The carton also looked as if in had been previously opened and resealed. This time, I opted to pick up the replacement directly from the warehouse, a 200+ mile round trip drive but I couldn't risk a third damaged tank. Upon inspection that tank was undamaged and the carton was clean and new looking. The previous cartons looked like they were shuffled around a warehouse for several years. The installation went smooth and the tank functions flawlessly. Through the whole ordeal, the SupplyHouse staff was very courteous and helpful. Theses tanks are clearly not packaged well enough for shipping via UPS, etc. A little more padding would have prevented all this grief. It is a shame they make a great product then cheap-out on the packaging. I highly recommend this tank but only if picking up in person.

I needed to replace my tank. The support phone number was able to answer my questions about which model I should purchase. I ordered at 4:45pm on the east coast and it showed up at 11am the next day!

Damage in shipping. I use it anyway. Bent on end and dented on side.

All the material was quality material. The tank came damaged on the bottom because of horrible packing. I had to pound the base out for lack of a little bit of cardboard and Styrofoam..

As noted, many times by others, the tank arrived dented. Packing sucked. CS said it would not affect function or warranty, so I used it. It was easy to install and functions perfect so far. I Used the stainless T and found it difficult finding fittings to fit directly but I finally got them, and it looks good. May want to buy the appropriate fittings when buying the tank. All is good. Minus a star for dents and packaging.

Arrived fast which was needed. Arrived in good condition with minor scratch about an inch long. Installed and works great. Been 3 weeks with no problems.

Externally, this pressure tank appears identical to the same model number tank that failed after 28 years of faultless service running at 30/50 in support of a residential well. Hopefully, this new unit's diaphragm is also of identical composition as the failed unit, though there are reviews that note the company changing hands and that less robust materials are now being used. I did not verify either of these claims. Time will tell if the $$$ price paid was worth it. Separately, this product is woefully under packed for the shipping method used (UPS Ground). The unit arrived damaged. The bottom of the box was torn and open and the steel stand was egg shaped to the extent that the paint was flaking off of it. A 2nd unit was same-day shipped once Supplyhouse verified UPS had the damaged unit in hand. I asked for additional packing - suggesting foam in place around the base. This unit arrived without additional packaging and one side of its box was missing. Its stand was slightly damaged (bent) in several places, but the unit sat level so I kept it. Wellxtrol also makes this unit with a separate plastic base. It may be worth the extra cost to go this route as I believe this would mitigate the incidence of stand damage.

I'd noted before ordering that a lot of people mentioned issues with shipping damage. Ours had some extra cushioning added so it arrived with only a very minor bend to the bottom of the stand. Otherwise, no issues there. It's installed and seems to be working just fine. We'll hope it continues doing so for many years.
