Perfect bolt-up replacement

The old unit had developed a small leak around the seal. (The pump is more than 25 years old.) Rather than do a total replacement I gambled on replacing the bearing housing only. I made certain to obtain motor current readings before and after - they were the same. The new bearing housing is working perfectamundo: no leaks & perfect circulation. I saved more than 2/3 the cost of a total replacement. Now, I'll be getting a >$30 seal kit and rebuilding the old housing for future replacement. Bell & Gossett quality!

DISAPPOINTED

The service and the price was great as always. I just had an issue with the new bearing assembly I bought and hope it doesn't turn into a bigger problem later. The plastic impellar was cracked on a portion of the top which loosened and caused a jam inside the unit. First time turning the boiler on and had to fix it. I just trimmed off the plastic sliver which was binding it up. Other than that I'm hoping it lasts.

I will probably buy this again soon for the 2nd pump

Very straightforward to swap out for failed bearing assembly, and obviates the need to press bearings, etc.

Fairly easy to install

My 20 year old pump locked up. I had oiled it every year, I guess it was just tired Shut off the zones and drained the boiler. You need open end wrenches to remove this part I had to scrap around the opening with a knife Part installed easily enough Tighten all the bolts in a star pattern Totally job time ~ 35-40 minutes Part came in a few days. No issues on that.

Q: How do I know if I need the "standard" or "lead free" version?

A 2014 Federal law requires that only lead free components are installed for any application which is in contact with potable water. Non potable water uses may still use components containing lead. For the B&G series 100, the lead version has been discontinued.
