Air separators are used to continuously remove the air contained
in the hydronic circuits of heating and cooling systems. The air
discharge capacity of these devices is very high. They are capable of
removing automatically all the air present in the system down to the
micro-bubble level.
The circulation of fully de-aerated water enables the equipment to
operate under optimum conditions, free from noise, corrosion, localized
or mechanical damage. Micro-bubbles, fusing with each other, increase
in volume (get larger) until they become large enough to rise to the top
where they are automatically released.

I have been bothered for many years by the large amount of air that always in our water heating system. Purged the whole system numerous times by plumbers and myself, but the air seems always magically reappears soon after each purge. Did some research online. Bought the Discal air separator and Installed it by myself a few weeks ago and It worked fantastically. Good quality product. It started to separate and releas most of the trapped air from the system within the very first few mins after installation. My heating system now works very quietly and I can barely notice it when it kicks in. I connected my separator upstream of my heater since I do not have a good place downstream to install it. Anyhow, It seems still worked out very nice for me.
One other thing is that I am very happy with Discal customer service. Since I bought the Sweat type I need to solder it to connect with the pipe. I was kind out worried that the insert element may not be able to withstand the heat since it was made of plastic. Discal responded to my email very quick and ensured me it should be OK if I limit my touch flame on the joint area so that not to over heat the body part. But as a precaution as they suggested, I still wrapped the body of the separator with a wet cloth when I installed it. Don't know if this helped, it worked out with no problem.
