Better than what I replaced
This was a replacement for a tankless heater that was obsolete. It heats much hotter and is a smaller unit than I had before! I am pleased.
I did have to buy adapters which I knew beforehand. It was easy enough to find the parts at my local plumbing supply store.

NOT a direct replacement for a EXO12240T!
So... one of my EXO12240T sprung a leak. I have 3 in my house. I keep a spare heating element so it's on hand when one blows. The EXO is discontinued but the SupplyHouse page says the SPEX is a direct replacement. Even the part number for the element is the same. Cool, right? No.
SupplyHouse pricing, ordering, delivery all excellent!
Installation? Not so much. The SPEX uses 3/8" copper compression fittings versus the EXO 1/2" copper compression. Rather than dropping in, I had to buy parts, sweat fittings, etc to install the new heater.
