Great vent booster

Great product - used in conjunction with range hood
Our interior range hood wasn't exhausting well, as the existing ductwork maxed out at 4". We couldn't run new ductwork, as it would have weakened our floor joist. Our only option at this point was to install an exterior exhaust fan which is used in conjunction with an interior range hood. The product was easy to install and works well. So far so good!

Louder than the non XL version
I installed a Fantech 4" fan in 2006 and it just now failed. I went up to the XL because it was the same price! The duct opening is an inch higher on the back of the unit though, so I had to modify the surround on my wall since it comes out an inch lower than the old one. When I turned it on I was surprised how loud it was. I mean out in the yard, in the house it's fine. There's a high pitched fan whine plus a white noise component from the actual air flow. It's not a flaw, just something I wish I'd considered before I picked it. The old one was made in Canada. New one Germany. They seem identical in workmanship.

Perfect product
The house we bought had 2 90's and about 25 feet of straight vent with no help. Added this booster and on the first use had clothes dry and no heat in utility room. Also no more "check vent" light on dryer. It did what I expected it to do.

excellent product!
This fan replaces another RVF 4" fan, which was not powerful enough. I expect to get as many years of service out of this fan. Anytime a product is made in Germany, it will be a top-notch product.
