Description

Honeywell Home 40003916-526 Powerhead for V8043E 5000 Series Zone Valve
A Honeywell Home replacement zone-valve powerhead used to restore actuator operation on compatible Honeywell hydronic zone valves when the correct service powerhead is required.

Key Features
  • Replacement powerhead for the V8043E 5000 Series zone valve
  • Supplied as a service powerhead assembly (the provided sources do not list electrical ratings, torque, or cycle timing)

Compatibility & Applications
  • Listed for V8043E 5000 Series zone valve applications.
  • Q&A feedback indicates this powerhead is used as an upgrade/retrofit on some earlier Honeywell zone valve bodies
  • Must only be used where the manufacturer specifies this exact part number: 40003916-526.

Installation & Operation Notes
  • Installation should be performed by a qualified hydronic/heating technician.
  • Reference the zone valve and boiler/hydronic system service documentation for correct shutdown, wiring verification, actuator mounting, and functional checkout.
  • User feedback emphasizes confirming fit before purchase; at least one review notes ordering the wrong item due to identification/visual mismatch.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Common replacement scenarios in reviews include: a zone that won't open (no heat on that zone), a sticking valve/powerhead, and nuisance noise/water hammer concerns.
  • Q&A and review feedback tie successful replacement to eliminating "clunking"/water hammer in some systems and restoring normal zone operation - follow the system troubleshooting procedure before replacement.

User Reviews & Q&A Summary
  • Fit/upgrade themes: Many users describe it as an easy retrofit and report it works well as a replacement powerhead; multiple comments mention "backwards compatible" use on older valves.
  • Performance themes: Several users report it helped resolve sticking valves and reduced or eliminated water-hammer/clunking noise.
  • Ease-of-install themes: Common feedback describes a quick swap (often around 15 minutes) and appreciation for having documentation to confirm fit.
  • Q&A themes: Questions focus on backward compatibility/retrofit use to reduce clunking and water hammer; one answer states it can be used on earlier-series valve bodies without replumbing and mentions included mounting screws.

Quick release connection a great improve

The quick release on this model is excellent. Even better was the service I got from SupplyHouse. They sent the wrong model at first and were able to replace it in 36 hours. Couldn't be better.

Replacing powerhead again after only 3 years.

Purchased powerhead here in winter of 2023 and replaced failed powerhead on original valve from 2012. Has only lasted 3 years. Motor gearing resistance won't let springs close the valve so I am purchasing another powerhead and a replacement motor to rebuild the one from 2023 for a spare. The quick release of the powerhead and serviceablity of the valve are the only positives. Fyi, I also have 3 other original working valves from my 2012 new high eff. Boiler install.

Definitely what I needed

This device was exactly what I needed when the heat would not turn on in my house. Replaced it in about 15 minutes and it works like a charm.

Easy

I have five zones with these. Easy retrofit. Generally works well. Mine have gotten corroded at the valve interface because of chilled water condensate, so I put grease on them when I replace them.

I will because I don't want to replace all my zone valves.

I have 5 zone valves on my boiler system. I replaced 2 power heads with the new replacement heads. When I went to test the valve manually the manual lever just bent and wouldn't open the valve. Had to put the new motor in the old power head so it would work. I wish quality control would check all parts before they sell this stuff. The lever was real soft.

Product Q&A

2 Questions

ASK A QUESTION

Q: Does this 5000 series power head work on the V8043 1012 valve? Your answers say yes and no. I have a pipe hammer on one zone and according to the 5000 series it closes slower. So I need it if it is interchangeable.

As far as we know, the only head that works with V8043E1012 valves is part 40003916-026.

Q: Can I use this 5000 series powerhead on my 1000 series zone valve without replumbing...all in an effort to get rid of the clunking noise on my 1000 series?

No you cannot.

According to the honeywell documentation, the 5000 series heads are backwards compatible with the 1000 series bodies. Whether that will eliminate the clunking noise is anyone's guess.

Yes you can, they are backwards compatible and include two mounting screws in the package. That is the method used for mounting the 5000 series power head to the 1000 series valve body. Have done it many times for general repair and to eliminate zone water hammer. They are all I use now to upgrade existing 1000 series valves and eliminate nuisance call backs. Only a few bucks more than a 1000 series power head.
