Just what I needed.

Thermistor, (temperature sensor) for heated floor mat. It was recommended to run a redundant sensor in case the first one failed since there is no way to replace or repair it if it fails.

Quality product at a great price

This was the best deal on a floor sensor that I could find. I listened to the suggestions and bought 2 of these right away and installed both in my floor just in case and I would highly recommend doing the same. They were easy to install and so far everything is working perfectly. And since I installed 2, I am well protected if the current one quits working.

So far so good!

I used two of these sensors installed under my tile during a recent bathroom remodel. I used two sensors just in case the main sensor failed. This way I would not have to rip-up the tile to replace the sensor. The spare sensor's wire is tucked neatly behind the thermostat ready to be wired into my thermostat if the need should arise. Hopefully, that will never happen but just in case... The sensors are not very expensive and are cheap insurance. Just imagine how much it would cost, not to mention the time & effort it would be to tear up your tile, grout and possibly damage your heating wires under the tile. No thanks, why take a chance. Besides, Pex Supply had by far the best prices on the sensors. I kind of got off track so to sum it up, the sensor works as it should keeping the temperature of the floor warm & cozy. I haven't had any problems with it and hopefully never will.

Excellent deal on these sensors.

This is the best deal I've ever seen on these. I've spent at least $9 on all of ours. Remember to always install a primary and a backup - in case the primary fails over time or gets broken during install, etc.

Q: Will this sensor work with the TH114-A-240D-B? If so, does the TH114-A-240D-B have terminals to connect to this sensor? Is the sensor circuit 24V? Thanks,

No it will not, it has no sensor connections. The sensor I believe is a millivolt resistor.

Q: would i use this sensor with a stapple uphydronic system with hardwood floor above? would the sensor go underneath the floor or set on top of the hardwood somehow

I would place the sensor along side of a tube with duct tape to hold it it place. These things are cheap to buy so place two or three in different locations so if one fails or gets damaged you can change the wires at the box where the thermostat is mounted. Q: Can the length be added to? I need the sensor to be about 25 - 35 feet away from the thermostat.

On the average sensor wires can run up to 500 feet so adding the few feet you want to will not be an issue.

In one of my in floor heating zones I extended the lead length to at least 40 feet. Used a 16 gauge wire. Given the approximately 10k resistance of the sensor the additional sensor wire is immaterial. My installation is working fine.

I am not an electrician, but I am sure you could extend it. The resistance is in the sensor on the end of the wire and not in the wire itself. Eventually there would be a limit, but any limitation on extension would most likely be set by the thermostat. Brad Watson, P.E.

Sorry but that doesn't make any sense. The thermostat is connected to the sensor AND the heated floor mat. The heated tile area should start RIGHT NEXT TO the wall that this thermostat is mounted to. If it does not, then that is a design problem and should be fixed - extend the dedicated home run (junction it if need be), and install the thermostat in the proper place. The ONLY reason I can think of why you might ask this question is that your electrician didn't install the dedicated home run to a good place, right next to your tile work. If that's the case, then you should move it, so that your thermostat will be VERY close (mounted on a wall directly next to) the heating wires. Good luck!

Q: Anyone know if this temp sensor will work for the EZ Heating thermostat system? Thanks!

We use ours with Thermosoft mats and Honeywell (Aube) thermostats. You are asking about the EZ Heating System, which also has the Aube thermostat option, so this sensor should work just find there also. Make sure you install a primary and backup sensor in the floor, just in case. Only one of them will actually be CONNECTED to the thermostat. The other will just sit behind the thermostat in case there is a failure. Good luck!

I did a quick search and can't tell. EZ heat does not list anywhere in their literature whether they use a 10k ohm sensor, which is the most common one used here in the US. I also couldn't find any specs anywhere else online. Best thing to do is contact EZ Heat and ask for the resistance chart for their sensor or just ask if it is a 10k sensor that they use in their stats. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I use these sensors all the time for other systems (hot water) so they do work with a lot of different thermostats. Good luck. Jeff
