Description

Honeywell AMX300 series DirectConnect kits reduce installation time while providing Honeywell's industry-leading mixing valve technology, which offers excellent temperature stability and control and minimizes scalding risk to building occupants.

Features
  • Temperature is adjustable using push-twist-release locking hand wheel design and if cold water supply is interrupted, flow reduction occurs in seconds
  • Kit includes mixing valve, cold water tee fitting and flexible stainless steel connector
  • Recirculation portion option offers fast delivery of heated water to the furthest fixtures, increasing user comfort with more available hot water
  • The alternate hot port bypasses hot water directly from the tank to non-mixed temperature applications
  • Brass/stainless construction with Teflon coated wear surfaces for extended surface

Just a little more hot water

I put a larger tub into the master bathroom and the hot water heater could no longer meet the demand for hot water. Instead of replacing the hot water heater I added the mixing valve, then turned the heater up full. The heater now almost always has enough hot water to meet my needs. Also, the temperature out of the hot water heater no longer fluctuates with its cycle. I always get the same temp water. This really helps in the kitchen while washing dishes. I no longer have to worry about being scalded from any faucet in the house. This mising valve should be part of every hot water heater installation. The only down side is that there is a slight reduction in flow. This is only noticeable when using a high flow faucet. No problem with showers or normal tub filling faucets.

Never worked properly

My home is a 1/4 mile from the street with a 3/4" PVC line running from the water main, with the main home plumbed in 1/4" copper, so water pressure and flow can be poor when more than one fixture is running. To solve this, we use a Davey mains booster pump. So maybe this product didn't work for me because of high pressure variation. Or maybe it was just a bad valve. Initially the valve worked, and then it shifted from extending hot water availability to reducing it. There would still be plenty of hot water in the tank, but the valve would just keep creeping more cold into the line the longer a shower was flowing. Almost like it was working backward, or it was stuck in its initial position and not adapting as the temp of water leaving the tank was slowly decreasing. I rebuilt the valve with a rebuild kit after two years (parts mostly looked ok other than a disintegrated o-ring)... worked great... then started doing the same thing 2 months later. Removed the valve entirely and have way more hot water than with it installed. Rediculous.

Not Worth It

The Cross Over Tube For The Cold Water To The Mixing Valve Leaked Due To The Flare Mating Surface On The Mixing Valve Being Too Short So The Flare Dosent Sit Properly. I Had To Make A Copper Cross Over With My Own Flare For It To Stop Leaking. The Nect Problem Was With 135F Water Feading The Valve With It Maxed Out The Hottest Water I Got Out Of It Was 122F. Will Not Be Buying Again.

This product is very high quality

Just finished the installation and temperature test. The installation was very striate forward. I started with the cold side. After getting it hand tightened, I did one more turn by hand, didn't want to use any tools on it. Did this for the hot water also. The Connecter did require a very tight connection. Did the pressure test and then re-hooked up the stack and turned on the pilot light. After the warming cycle finished, tested the water temp at the sink nearest the water heater. the temperature tested 120 with a max of 122 for a brief period. I would say that is more than acceptable.

Perfect for 75 gal water heaters with 11" spread

This worked perfectly for a 75 gal water heater with a 11" spread on inlet and outlet water connections. Would definitely recommend for those who want more capacity from their standard tank heater.

Recent Install

Replaced an instant on assist heater. Went in quickly with PTFE paste. More hassle finding the right length of hoses at the Big Boxes with my older home piping connections being lower than current code. Definitely more hot water longer now and max temp is lower and safer.

Excellent

This is a great product that I'd easily buy it again. I purchased this to eliminate Legionella risk and increase hot water availability. To eliminate Legionella, water needs to be 140, which is dangerous at taps because it can cause severe burns quickly. This allows me to set my water heater to 145 while keeping taps at a safe 120. The increased water heater temp has the added bonus of stretching our tank's capacity so we don't run out.

Honeywell spec sheet only list it as an 11" flexible hose. they do not have dimensional data, on this hose.
