The ICM493 is an advanced, single-phase line voltage monitor with a bank of surge arresters for added protection against lightning strikes. Includes a built-in 40A contactor. Housed in a NEMA Rated 3R enclosure for outdoor installations. UL Recognized. Installs easily between the service disconnect and the condensing unit. Ideal for Mini-Splits or other valuable, single-phase equipment.

Quality build and excellent pricing
Installed to protect Panasonic heat pump controls in a lightning prone area of the country.
An easy diy 15 minute install.
Will have the hvac guy monitor as part of his twice a year pm's.

Pretty easy to install, we've had a lot of power issues locally, and a lot of customers losing mini split & communicating control boards in their HVAC equipment. Replaced boards on one customers, added the ICM, and the power coming in was too high(257V). the ICM stopped the power from taking the boards out again. Added a buck/boost transformer, and all is good now. These definitely work. Used to use the AG3000's, but almost every board we replaced had it on it, and the light was still green.

The ICM493 is fantastic! A/C protection!
The ICM493 is highly recommended by local air conditioning companies here in Florida where lightning damage is a common problem, especially to units with variable speed compressors or fan motor drives.
Sometimes a second ICM493 surge unit is installed for the indoor unit as well.
This unit will save the inconvenience and cost of having to replace an A/C control board or compressor unit damaged by a thunderstorm Power surge.
