Excellent product

So easy! All in one package and works like a champ. I have a very soggy backyard and we have been getting tons of rain this year. The water was running under the house and out into the front yard. I became concerned about my foundation, insulation, mold, etc. so I decided to install a sump pump. I was initially intimidated but watched a few YouTube videos and purchased this kit. As others have said, the hardest part was digging a 2'X2'X2' hole. After digging the hole, which was filling with water as I dug and had to be constantly bailed out, I dropped this unit into the hole, plugged it in, and BAM - all the water was immediately pumped out around the side of my house where I placed the discharge hose. The actual pump is all metal, appears heavy-duty, and is quite heavy. It does a great job of re-directing the water from my low point (foundation) around my house. I couldn't be happier. Also, I tried pricing each part separately and couldn't match this combination.

NO!

this is not what I ordered, the bucket is only 16 high and 12 wide, your add says it's 18x22 and perforated, this one is NOT! Highly disappointed, I havent opened it up to see what is inside, I'm afraid I'll really get PISSED Off!

Good product and value

Good complete kit for a sump pump. High quality pump and basin. The discharge hose is ok, the hose clamps are cheap. For a few bucks you should buy your own stainless clamps. Otherwise, good product and price.

Easy Installation and Sturdy Materials

I was quoted nearly $3,000 to install a sump pump in my crawl space- this kit let me install one for 1/10th of the cost. The hardest part was digging the hole, then I placed the basin in, ran the discharge hose, and plugged it in to be done with install (~ 2 hours with 1.5 of them being digging) . I was also impressed with how sturdy all materials were, I am sure the system will last a long time and with a 3 year warranty I do not think you could have more ease of mind!

Affordable and Quality

The shipping was very fast, the pump works very well and the packaging did not result in any damage on shipping. Overall the system is exactly what I needed and has given me the peace of mind I was looking for while being away from my property.

Pretty good with some glitches

The construction of this unit is robust and solid feeling. I purchased two kits in the midst of record storms in MA, which meant that I had to dig a partial hole and wait until the pumps did their job and I could then resume digging. After a week or so, I removed the pumps and the basin (it was just sitting in the hole with a weight atop it) in order to continue excavation. When I removed the pumps, they looked spotless...except for the clamp that secured the hose to the barbed fitting. The clamp was a zinc plated affair and not the usual stainless and in the space of one week, there was evidence of substantial corrosion- I doubt that it would have lasted a year. Given the power at which this pump discharges water, it is likely that the hose might be dislodged if the clamp failed. I replaced the clamp with a stainless unit and notified SH of the issue. The nature of the problem didn't seem to register- customer service just wanted to know if I wanted to return it (no, I did not). I suggested replacing the clamps in the kits and it didn't appear to be of concern to customer service. The second issue is more of a design adjustment. The plastic drain basin is about 2' deep and tapers slightly as you move closer to the bottom. Given that the unit is going to be installed in a wet environment, there should be a lip at the base for gravel to perch on and prevent the unit shifting from buoyancy. I'm not suggesting that it's going to pop up out of the floor like a cork, rather there is the potential for slow movement of the basin over a longer period of time. I fixed this issue with some sturdy metal (some 1/2" thick scrap I had) that sticks out to catch the gravel surrounding the basin to resist the buoying effect of water. If you purchase this kit, a couple of small changes will make it much more dependable in the long run.

Q: If I install this unit in my yard do I have to have a concrete basin put it first?

You should not have to. I installed mine by digging a hole at least 6-12" wider all around, lined that hole with landscaping cloth (to keep dirt and silt out) dropped the plastic basin in, then filled around the basin with coarse gravel (#57s). It has been working well for two years.

No just put river rocks all around and underneath 4 to 6 inches

Q: Is the discharge hose kit 24 inches or 24 feet?

It's totally 24 feet. Not sure if you are just trying to point out this error to the site managers. A 24" discharge hose would be pretty comical. It is a great kit, I have two installed right now - the first one has been running fine without any maintenance for 5 years.
