TO5 KickStart Potential Relay and Start Capacitor (1 to 3 Ton)

We had an industrial ice machine at a bar go down; after investigation found out it was a running capacitor. .fixed thar (meter showed 10uF vs rated 35uF) and worked but unit failed after testing multiple starts in short period of time. Starter device (similar to starter capacitor) failed to work if restarted when hot (< 10 mins) from previous start of compressor. This small blue two lead plastic device was melted/bulging and too hot to touch and have been known to explode when they go. So after much research into starting capacitors, found out that in AC circuits that they don't store change like in DC circuits (common misperception), they alter the phase of AC to provide compressor more torque on starting. What makes this solution better than others is that the relay switches the starter capacitor out after a split second when compressor motor has chance to spin up so it's out of circuit once running. So, it's more expensive but the way it should have been done at the factory instead of saving a couple of bucks knowing it would fail after a couple of years.

He's Have Always Been My Favorite And I Buy Them In Large Quantities But This Year There Is A Liquid In The Package Of A Majority Of Them Which Is Probably The Electrolyte And The Wire Tie That They Used To Strap It Is Extremely Weak So I Just Throw It Out
