It is likely an issue with the aquastat. It could also be a problem with the actual wires.
Both those items are obsolete and can be replaced by part L7224U1002. L8148A1090 can also be replaced by L8148A1017.
I am not a heating pro. I would compare the electrical rating on each unit and the layout- horizontal/ Vertical. My swap had different 4 digit end numbers in the id and the match was perfect mechanically and electrically. The part # L8148A were matching on both units.
