Description

The TacoGenie delivers hot water comfort and convenience to faucets and taps "On Command" 24 hours a day, and at the same time it saves water, energy and money. Have hot water at your fingertips whenever you turn the faucet. Stop wasting water as you wait for cold to turn to hot. Stop burning energy as you wait for warm to turn warmer. The TacoGenie™ puts an end to the waste, and the wait, forever.

How the TacoGenie Works:

The TacoGenie is a small, silent pump attached to your hot and cold water lines in the cabinet under your most remote kitchen or bath fixture. When TacoGenie is activated, the cool water you normally let run down the drain is circulated back to the water heater through the cold water line.

Instantly the pump circulates hot water from the water heater, and returns the cooled water back through the cold water line. When the hot water arrives at the faucet, the TacoGenie heat sensor and control board shut off the pump to prevent pumping excess hot water into the cold water line.

Activate the TacoGenie only when you need it:

TacoGenie only runs when you tell it to, and it’s smart enough to know when the water currently in the line is hot enough. TacoGenie can be activated with the push of a button, or with an optional wireless remote transmitter/receiver or optional hard-wired motion sensor.

Easy To Install:

The TacoGenie not only saves water and energy, it saves in construction costs as well. No new return line is necessary; no need to drain the system; no demolition and repair. In fact, TacoGenie can be installed in just eight simple steps

A great way to save:

TacoGenie operates 24 hours a day to save you water, energy and money. What’s more, it’s made by Taco, known by plumbing professionals as a world leader in high quality hydronic components since 1920. The average home may waste over 12,000 gallons of water per year while waiting for hot water. Stop wasting and start saving with a TacoGenie.
  • Runs only when activated by the user.
  • Is available 24 hours per day / 7 days a week.
  • Automatically senses when water is hot enough.
  • Saves water, energy and money.
  • Saves construction costs; No new return line needed and no need to drain the system.
  • Simple installation.

Every home should have one

The pump sent had a fault which prevented it starting when the button was pressed. Supplyhouse sent a replacement pump and a prepaid return label for the faulty unit. The pump is only active when the start button is pressed and stays on until the hot water reaches it. It then shuts off. Takes perhaps 2 minutes? Minimal electrical cost. HUGE water saving. In the past we could wait around 5 minutes sending water down the drain waiting for the hot water. Now it's there almost immediately. Absolutely wonderful. Get one Buy it from Supplyhouse they had the best price but just as important is their customer service. Excellent response to my problem.

A quiet, quick way to get hot water

We are very satisfied with the Taco Genie. Living in drought-ridden California, I was unhappy with having to run water for nearly a minute to get hot water. My husband thought it was no problem since we could heat water in a kettle before washing dishes. I regarded that as camping and entirely unsatisfactory in the 21st century. Our plumber said there was an inexpensive solution and recommended a Chilipepper pump to go under the sink. The Chilipepper did heat the water, but it made a horrible screaming noise that only got worse. I asked my brother-in-law which brand he used and he told me about the Taco Genie, which our plumber had never heard of. We had to have him come to remove the Chilipepper and install the Taco Genie, which cost more than twice what the Chilipepper cost, but it is worth it. It is completely quiet. It does take about 40 seconds before the water is hot, but at least you're not running and wasting water. One thing to be aware of: if there is hot water already in the system, the Taco Genie will not go on. At first, we thought it wasn't working, but now that we understand how it works, we are thrilled. It would be great if the pump came with a hard copy manual that explained this, as opposed to an online manual only. Months later, we're still waiting for the refund from Chilipepper. If you want hot water and don't want to waste water, buy a Taco Genie. If you don't mind the machine screaming like a Banshee, you can save a lot of money with the Chilipepper, but for us, the quiet, effective Taco Genie is well worth the price.

Worked well for our slightly different setup.

Overall couldn't be happier with this. Our water supply is from two big tanks on the roof with constant pressure provided by a Grundfos pump to push the water through whole house water filters and a tankless water heater on the hot side. I was unsure this would work for our system but it operates well installed as instructed in a bathroom vanity. Our water has a very high mineral content so we wanted selected a product more resistant to malfunction due to scaling. Pump hums when running, but not too loud, and it is clear when it stops as the temp is reached. Temp cutoff is appropriate for us, and not sure it can be adjusted. Push button operation is a great feature. We didn't use the copper Ts for install or the remote activation option yet.

Works great!

I needed to partially loosen one of the water connections for a minute to bleed some water in order to clear an air block that prevented the pump from moving water at first. Now hot water arrives in less than a minute!

Love having instant hot water in master bathroom

Installed this pump under our master bathroom sink and we now have hot water in 3 seconds instead of 3 minutes! No more wasted water down the drain. Our double-vanity sinks both have hot water immediately now and our master shower has it in 10 seconds. My wife and I really like the on-demand push button feature because our schedules are too variable for timer-based solutions. Even after the coldest night here on the shores of Lake Erie, this pump runs for only 70 seconds before it shuts off and we have hot (not warm) water at the bathroom sink faucets. The pump is very well made and we can hardly hear it running when we push the button. Also, we don't have the issue of warm water in the cold water line as some users of other brands have complained about. We are super happy with this pump and wish we had installed it sooner! Supplyhouse pricing was the best! No regrets at all with this purchase!

Great Product

Bathrooms are far from water heater, and supply line runs through cold crawl space. This pump reduces amount of water we buy and the amount we put into our septic system.

I would highly recommend this produce.

Since the hot water heater is on the far side of the house from the kitchen and laundry room I used to have to run the wot water for almost a minute to get the hot water to the faucet wasting water. Now I push the button and wait a few seconds for the pump to stop and I immediately have hot water at the faucet.

pump works well and is very easy to install

I'm not a plumber, but I was able to install this pump under the bathroom sink by myself, and that's strong testimony. I did not use the connector hoses that came with it, I prefer the more flexible hoses from the hardware store, which have braided wire outer covering. The hoses from supplyhouse were all metal, not as flexible. I also provided my own 'T' connectors; the ones from supplyhouse were not threaded on all ends, and I don't know how to use that type. The button works great. Pump makes some noise, but not too bad. Once I screw it down to prevent some vibration it should be better. The only mistake I made was hooking it up backwards. Then I saw the arrow pointing the direction the water should go, checked the instructions, and yup, sure enough, I had it backwards. Easy to unplug and reverse, though, before my wife found out :-)

Q: How long is the power cord? I have an electrical outlet under the cooktop which is about 6-7 feet away from the under the sink area and am hoping I won't have to have an electrician install a new outlet.
