The VT2218 is a temperature sensing, variable speed circulator ideal for Delta-T or setpoint temperature applications. Typical uses include hydronic systems zoned with zone valves, radiant loops, injection pumping, snowmelt or hydro-air fan coils. Can also be used in constant speed mode for zoning with circulators, indirect water heaters or primary boiler loops.
The VT2218 is whisper quiet and has a big, bright LCD screen that's easy on the eyes. Simple push-button navigation lets you set the pump to any one of five modes quickly and easily. But what you can't see is just as important: our innovative Bio Barrier protects the rotor and bearings from system contaminants.
The Viridian VT2218 can slash fuel bills by hundreds of dollars. Its companion, the Zone Sentry zone valve, draws up to 93% less energy, uses fewer components, and can handle up to 12 valves per standard 40 VA transformer. When it comes to zone valves, the Zone Sentry is the smartest decision you can make.

Easy to install upgrade to an old Taco circulator
I added the to our hydronic system when upgrading from an old boiler to a new high efficiency condensing unit. I am using this pump in the default delta T mode and it does continually change speed based on the temps sensed to maintain the 20F differential. One thing I did notice is that I can hear the pump changing speed at different locations around the house, not a problem and it is very hard to hear but slightly more obvious than the constant speed pump it replaced.

Electronic issues on 4 new pumps out of the box
Ive used the VT2218 pumps before on radiant before with good results. Have 2 in my own home no issues.
Up sold a customer on one that is 3 times the cost of a 007. Put it in and electronics were no good. Pump always shows 7 watts but is running full speed pulling 59 watts per my watt meter. Taco said contact supplier get a replacement. Sh.com issued a replacement went back to job site same isse. Sh.com replaced this pump again and same issue. On the 4th bad pump taco advised me theres a known circuit board issue on date code 04/22 -04/23. Doesnt help the fact I have been back to the customers home 3 times after initial install, problems still not fixed and customer is questioning my reccommendation of this unit. What mess and loss of time and money.
Really suck as a contractor getting stuck with a labor loss of this magnitude.
Sh.com has been amazing. They issued return labels and replacements as fast as possible. Advised they are now aware of the issue and are lioking for a pump out of the date code issue range to send me now.
Hopefully my 5th trip back will be the one that ends this nightmare.

I would not buy again.
I purchased 6 of these Viridian pumps from Supply House about 7 years ago they are still working but some have an electronic issue that seems to be software related with these pumps. I've noticed over the years if there is air in the system and the pump goes into cavitation such as surging and no load... the protection circuit in the pump throws a fault code usually over or under voltage and shuts the pump down and no heat. The only way to get these pumps started again is to shut off power and restart and purge the system of air. Once this is none i've had no other issues. Taco made a well built pump I like that..Supply House is great for customer service and support.

Very efficient, good control options
I replaced my circulators with VT2218's. Cut power consumption by 2/3. I have two operating as delta T, this one is used to maintain a fixed temperature, 140 degrees F from a 180 degree source. It does pretty good but oscillates between 135 and 145 - which is OK - apparently the control system has latency. But it does the job and much more efficient than the fixed speed circulator it replaced.

Production related issue
I want to start with supply house has been very professional and on top of this issue. This is a very nice product but unfortunately Taco send out a batch of bad pump. The unit will not indicate flow and just sets at 7watts. Intermittently it will shut down and cause the boiler to go off due to flow. I'm currently on the third replacement. As a background I'm a licensed heating contractor. Taco has been easy to work with on this Veridian taco pump.

Got my hydronic system running normally again.
Prior unit had failed and was basically running in limp-along mode (speed 1). Was able to replace motor/rotor portion without removing the circulator body. System is back running in delta-T mode and comfort has improved.
