Standard PEX should always have the same dimensions. With this fitting, the tubing should fit over the barbed side of the fitting on the PEX side. You will need to complete the connection with a 1" crimp ring and a functional crimp tool.
1) Slide the "screw" ring into place on the supply fitting. 2) Slide the crimp sleeve over the PEX tubing. 3) Slide the PEX tubing over the barbed supply fitting. 4) Line up the crimp sleeve and crimp the sleeve in place. Sounds like you skipped Step 1 (??).
