Quick and easy installation

My home was conveniently built using Polybutelene in the last year it was legal. I decided to replace it with Pex and I decided to use a home run design. This is a solid product. Freezing temps aren't common here, but they do happen so being able to shut off the hose bibs is a nice feature. Pros: I love having shutoffs for each line All fittings can and should be hand tightened (see corresponding con). As long as the nipple is kept perfectly straight you will have no issues. Solid construction. Even though it is plastic it actually feels very solid. 4 integrated mounting holes make mounting easy Cons: The threads are super soft. Even for plastic these are soft. If you aren't careful you will cross thread the metal nuts. This is questionable design decision. Metal nuts on a plastic thread is just a bad idea. If the nipple, which is a separate piece is not kept absolutely level the threads bind and will not move. Do that a few times and the threads become unusable. I did this. However, I determined the threads do not actually retain water, the nipples do so I simply forced the nut until it held the nipple tight and it worked. Point number two is the fact that you need to piece this kit together. Although you choose the type of connectors for each outgoing line, there are no corresponding inlet pieces included. I knew this going in so I did buy them but if you know what type of connectors are on the out then they really should provide the in pieces. Further, they should provide you a cap or two just in case. Even if they charged another few dollars for the kit this would have been worth it for the convenience. Tip: The instructions tell you to put clamp the pipe on the nipple before attaching to the manifold. In every case when i did this the weight of the pipe was just enough to throw off the delicate positioning of the nipple as it was screwed in. I ended up placing the nipples and then sliding the pex over and crimping it.

We used this to break out the manifold of PEX piping in our utility room. As far as cost goes, this really is the cheapest way to have a valve on every device. Despite being very careful, we cross threaded the bottom connection. I believe the threads are non-reinforced polypropylene which is very soft. Ultimately, I was able to cut away the first row of marred threads with a pocket knife and get the fitting to thread on, but wow that was close.

Perfect, user friendly, easy to install

I did a bunch of research before buying this and so far I think I made the right choice. I would recommend buying caps to block off unused ports. I am replacing galvanized one room at a time and even turned off the hot water ports weep. Service with supply house was and is fantastic. Lots of information on the site and fast shipping.
