works great for hot water heater shutoff
I got 2 of these, one for the supply side and one for the hot water side of my hot water heater. In both cases I put the bleeder valve facing the hot water heater so that I can drain the entire water heater to replace an element when it's time and not worry about having to drain the whole house. It's a nice shutoff, goes on easily, and I just had to get a couple of schedule 80 or brass nipples to attach to my supply hoses for the water heater. Ideal use case.
