Most Liked Positive Review

Hope to prolong the life of my water heater even more.

This is the second time I replaced the anode rods on my A. O. Smith seventeen year old water heater. Hoping to get another five years out of it ! Surprising how eaten away the rods were. Doing their job well !

I always buy my product from this distributor

It had extremely fast delivery. I believe it only took one day from the day. I ordered it to the delivery date. Maybe it was two days but I'm pretty sure it only took one day. It was a good price and the product was packaged appropriately and the product is what I needed.

Q: I need an anode for my GCVL-40 300. I believe the 3/4" standard magnesium rod will provide the best corrosion protection, followed by the 29" aluminium, followed by the 16" aluminium? Is this correct, and will they all fit my unit (with trimming if needed)? Is there a greater chance of odor with the magnesium unit?

I have an A.O. Smith, but I believe the 3/4" size is common with all. My rods are 32". From everything I have researched, Magnesium is the best. I do not, or never have detected an odor. I change mine out every two years but it depends on how hard your water is and whether you have a water softener. Water softeners accelerate the problem! After two years, they are over half eaten up.

Q: Will this magnesium anode work in an AOS Gas Water Heater GVC-50 300 which came with a 29" aluminum anode?

Yes, the anode rod would work. The length of the anode would be an issue if it was long enough to touch the bottom of the tank, but if this happened, the anode could be cut to size.

This anode rod should be fine, as long as the extra 3" wouldn't prevent it from physically fitting inside the unit.

Q: Is this a suitable replacement anode rod for my Rheem water heater? (model 31VH40D) Current length of installed rod is 42".

It may work, as the threading for anode rods tends to be universal, but we couldn't say for sure. The shorter length would not be a problem, other than that the rod may not last as long.
