Great Hot Water Heater
Great Heater, Great Dealer, Good Price, Fast shipping. I installed this heater in less than 1 hour. The supplied tank was exactly the same as the one that i had with the exception of the brand. I had an American Star Heater which had the same rating as the AO smith, It worked alright till it developed a leak. This new AO smith works better than the old one. It produces more hot water in less time, we never lose hot water anymore.

This heater works as advertised. I bought this to replace an ailing 18 year old 30 gallon AO SMITH. The fact that the last one served 18 years made me feel good about buying another.
The extra capacity is great because I dont have to worry about running out of hot water in the shower if the dishwasher is running at the same time.
The push button pilot igniter was very nice and safer than trying to heat up the sensor and light the flame with a grill lighter with my face in the opening. This heater is great, just torn the dial to pilot, pudh the igniter button and you can safely watch the pilot light through a little windoe.

awesome hot water heater. great deal.
My wife and I have a two story house with two full bathrooms, we can both take a shower at the same time and after that do a load of dishes in the dishwasher with no worry of running out of hot water. The self contained ignited is also a plus. We got our first full month gas bill in and it was down to 42.00 from 83.00 our bill has always been in the 80's or higher. The only change made was this water heater. I would definitely recommend this.

best bang for the buck
Replacement for a 22 year old A.O Smith. This unit is similar in dimensions and hooked up pretty well. It's a good no nonsense workhorse that was fairly inexpensive.
Gave it four stars. If the efficiency was as good as the high dollar units I would have given it five. Otherwise I'm pleased with it.

[...] It is very easy to hook-up,the pilot, lights very easily, and has a good recovery period. What more could you want from a hot water tank.

Excellent energy saver
Residential water heating is superb compared to the last heater installed by the local gas supplier. .. and AO smith says it does not need an insulation blanket which makes it look neater.
Only problem was matching the vent size on installation.

turn the know on gas valve to on heater to pilot. Press the red button down for a few mins. then press ign. button on every 10 second while pressing red button down. then look under the heater for a blue flame. once it lights remain hold the red button for 2 more mins. then release the red button. if flame stays lite, then turn knob to ON. if the flame goes out start over from beginnning.

I'm late in this reply but turn the ignitor knob topush it down and press the ignitor button (to the right) until lit (listen for the ignition) and keep holding the knob down for 1 min then release and turn to on. That should do it.
