Description

B & G type Low Pressure BPX brazed plate heat exchangers offer the highest level of thermal efficiency and durability in a compact, low cost unit. These are ideal for applications that require 150 PSIG or less. The corrugated plate design provides very high heat transfer coefficients, resulting in a more compact design. The unit's stainless steel plates are vacuum brazed together to form a durable, integral piece.

Super efficient
These are great H/X's. For their size they transfer a lot of heat. The way they come packaged is not good as it takes considerable time and effort to get the H/X out of the foam packaging. We've also noticed that the male connections are not always straight or aligned so that throws off the connecting pipes. We physically force the pipes straight which could result in the plates leaking between fluid types.

I would buy this product again.
Light weight and easy to install. The heat exchange is incredible. I installed it on a residential steam boiler to provide heat for a basement apartment, the customer said for the pass couple cold days it worked very well. They're satisfy, so am I.

Quality control
After attaching my threaded fittings and piping to the heat exchanger, the 9-12" pipe ends were not parallel or in-line with each other. My installation required some pipe length coming out of the H/X port before attaching my other fittings. It was difficult to line up and attach the couplings to the piping as they weren't straight. I ended up having to bend one of the outlet ports in order to attach my piping. I know this isn't the way to have to install a new heat exchanger. One port inlet was off 2" when extended 12". Bell & Gossett needs a better manufacturing process or quality assurance to insure that all port are parallel. These H/X are good in what they do. I'm just disappointed that the ports weren't properly accurate lined up. The Denver CO sales rep was useless in explaining the situation.
