ZBR 35-3 Greenstar 131 103,000 BTU Gas-Fired Wall-Hung Condensing Boiler

Installed a zbr 35-3 for primary heating. Unit is superb! Can barely tell its running its so quiet. When used with the fw200 or crc200 you get the full modulation. Used 8% propane the first week. After that its been using 3-4% a week. Even with negative temps in Wisconsin. Definitely sips LPG while keeping our home toasty. Bosch USA customer service was top notch in helping me dial in the settings after commissioning. Highly recommended unit!

I have this unit installed in my house in November of 2014 by licenced plumber (one of the requirements for MassSave program) and since then I had no issues. Plenty of hot water while 2 bathroom showers are used plus dishwasher and washing machine working at the same time. Heating system is great, as it should be. I picked this unit after my fathers' recommendation, he used to install previous generations of Bosch in eastern Europe and they lasted over 25 years. It is very quiet, I can only tell it's on, when the lid is open and I can see the LED indicator is on. It takes no room because it's on the wall, I got rid of all the oil stuff and have plenty of room for storage, no big boiler in the middle of the room and no oil tank. All in all huge difference and one of my best decisions.

Please do not buy Bosch. After 3 years the pressure and temperature started to fluctuate, most noticeably in the shower where the volume is highest. The pattern is consistent: Turn on the faucet, wait a minute to warm up, then 2 minutes of hot water, followed by a minute of dropping temp and a full 2 minutes of COLD water. Then 1 minute to ramp to hot, and the cycle continues. Water pressure follows the temperature arc (highest pressure when hot, lower pressure when cold). The original licensed HVAC installer swore he knew the issue from across the room without ever touching the unit. He had his guy swap out the impeller. No improvement. This self-proclaimed HVAC genius then said he was "stumped" and suggested we add a small mixing tank to the system. I disagreed, since our hot water demand hadn't changed and the boiler provided more than sufficient hot water for the first 3 years without issue. We have had a well serviceman, a plumber and an electrician grace us with their bills and they all left scratching their heads. I've come to the conclusion that the Bosch Greenstar unit has a 3 year lifespan, and is designed to stop throwing codes after this point. Prove me wrong.

Installed this unit two years ago (08/14) with an external DHW on a multi-zone radiant heating system. All went smoothly until 02/15 when one of the temperature limit sensors failed, the system shut down and pipes froze. It was 30 minutes to troubleshoot with Bosch Tech Support and then 5 minutes to fix (under warranty). While the sensor failure was understandable (sensors failed), it would have been easier to fix NOT during the heating season. Did I say the unit is quiet? It is. Subsequent to the sensor failure the unit does what its supposed to do.
