Description

The Caleffi MixCal™ 521 series three-way thermostatic mixing valve is used in systems producing domestic hot water or in hydronic and radiant heating systems. It maintains the desired output temperature of the mixed water supplied at a constant set value compensating for both temperature and pressure fluctuations of the incoming hot and cold water.

The valve has been specifically certified to ASSE 1017 and Low Lead Plumbing Law by IAPMO R&T.

Nice mixing valve for homes with 1" hot water mains

Installed this on a home wanting reduced and controlled temperature at all outlets while maintaining the primary boiler hot water tank at 140 degrees. This home had a hot water recirculation circuit and only two openings on the tank one 1.5" for cold and one 1.5" for the hot supply. The hot water recirculation pump did not include a check valve and we found that cold water would back feed whenever hot water was in high demand. Problem was solved by ordering and swapping out the old pump with a new Grundfos UPS 22-35 stainless pump with internal check valve to prevent the back feed which was diluting the hot water at showers and tubs.
