During the last month, I've had to test nearly 25 new and existing septic and pump tanks for water-tightness. The new tanks all had long-radius inlet baffle sanitary tees, and I was having much difficulty trying to get my standard Cherne 4" test ball plugs into the downward-turned inlet & outlets. A septic technician I was working with said they use a longer 4" test ball, so I did an internet search and found these Cherne 4" long test ball plugs (24" long). I ordered two, and they have been a life saver. You just install them in the vertical part of the inlet & outlet baffle tees. It's a huge time saver versus trying to install a standard 4" test ball into the horizontal (or downward-curved) part of the inlet & outlet tees, especially when the tanks are deeper. I would also recommend buying the Cherne extension hoses (I made my own before I realized you can buy them already made). This allows you to do the entire test easily from ground level. The only down side to the Cherne hose extensions is that they don't have pressure gauges for monitoring the pressure to make sure the setup isn't leaking air. The four I made all have pressure gauges.

Works great on wye cleanouts
Current project didn't have a clean-out tee, only a wye near the sewer connection. This worked great to block the entire wye. Also it's length makes it unlikely to eject out at high speed. The included extension hose was also helpful to stay out of the way of the pressure release water.
This model inflates to 30 psi.
