Description
–
RA 2000 Thermostatic radiator valves regulate the flow of hot water of hot water or steam through free-standing radiators, baseboards or convectors in hot water and two-pipe low pressure steam systems.
RA 2000 valves are fitted with a packing gland assembly that is replaceable while the system is in operation. The packing gland is fitted with a grease cup to ensure the o-ring packing is lubricated for life
Sturdy EPDM rubber valve disc provides a positive seal against the valve seat at differential pressures of up to 15 PSI in hot water heating systems, while 15psig for low pressure steam systems
Plastic cap supplied to protect the valve pushpin can provide manual control of the valve during installation. If manual operation is required, a separate hand knob is available as an accessory
Valves remain normally open with no operator mounted

Solid Valve
I replaced what were likely 110 year old cast iron radiator valves with these. This valve was about 1/8" tighter in both the horizontal and vertical directions, but there was enough play in the pipes to make it fit.
After one heating season, I've been very happy with the performance of the valves. They reliably respond to the room temperature, and I've found them comfortable. The only thing I'll note is that one of them has a tendency to whistle slightly for about 15 mins as it closes when I first turn on the boiler in the morning.

great solution for balancing
I installed these TRVs on all the radiators on the top floor of my home, where it used to be too hot in the winter. Now I can control the temperature in each room individually, simply and reliably. The installation of three saved as much in energy costs than fully insulating the sloped & flat ceilings of my home.
I have now gone back to all the radiators in my home.
