The 46486901 Field Vent Damper works automatically to allow natural draft during appliance operation while preventing residual appliance heat and conditioned air from escaping during off cycles. It also prevents the infiltration of cold air during down drafts.
Safety Features
- Dual safety switches allow the burner to fire only when the damper is in the open position. This unit will not interfere with existing appliance safety controls, when properly installed.
Operational Features
- Operates with all 24 VAC, 60hz intermittent ignition and standing pilot ignition systems.
- Stainless steel construction provides superior corrosion resistance.
- Damper operation: power opens in 15 seconds, power closes in 15 seconds. Power is off at damper motor when it is at rest.
- Hold open switch allows damper to be placed in an open position and taken out of service to assist with trouble shooting appliance problems.
- Keyed wiring harness connector plug installs only one way, preventing incorrect wiring connection.

How the GVD Works
- The 46486901 Field Vent Damper is installed in the vent pipe, after the draft hood, or barometric. During off cycles, it remains closed, preventing air flow through the vent. When there is a call for heat, the motor is energized, rotating the damper 90 degrees to an open position. Opening and closing takes approximately 15 seconds. When the damper is fully open, the burner is allowed to fire and flue gases pass freely through the vent. When the thermostat is satisfied, the burner stops, and the damper automatically closes. For service and trouble shooting, the damper can be locked in the open position.

25 QuestionsQ: I have a New Yorker, FR-147 oil fired boiler that I recently converted to gas fired. I installed a Midco EC-200 gas burner. I would like to use a GVD-7 vent damper. I have a Honeywell L8124-A aquastat. Is the GVD-7 compatible with my aquastat and Midco burner? If it is compatible, how should it be wired?

mine is gas fired -not sure wireing it needs to run fan after burner shuts off so no more heat goes u p exast pipe then damper should close . directions should be included
Step 1 Check and see if the existing vent damper has a 4 pin connection , the GVD -7 will require it

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffYou would need to check the specifications of your unit, but this vent damper is designed for use with natural gas appliances.
I use this product (not 4” but 6”) for both boiler exhaust and fresh air in to keep the maintenance room balanced.
I installed this on a natural gas boiler so it would fit on a furnace. The one issue is that the boiler had a control which activates the damper when it is on so you would need that as well. Sent from my HTC Inspire™ 4G on AT&T

Q: I have an older (1989) Utica gas fired hot water boiler and would like to install the Field Controls 7' Automatic GVD Vent Damper. Will the universal wiring harness work with a Honeywell L8148#1257 aquastat controller without the plugin?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffAccording to the manufacturer, the GVD-7PL will work for that unit along with the universal wiring harness. If you use the GVD-UWK you would need to cut off the end that would normally plug into the appliance and hard-wire it like the diagram in the GVD instructions.
Q: Will this unit replace a Slant/Fin automatic damper? If so are the wiring plugs the same? thanks for your response.
