The Best Option Out There
The one star deduction is my caveat of saying that this is my third Grundfos pump in 25 years, so not a bad lifespan considering. It's a quiet and reliable pump but BE AWARE: NEVER LET PUMP RUN WHEN THE WATER TURNED OFF -- That's how my first pump burned out. The city shut off our water and I wasn't home. I bought a timer for my second pump which shuts off the water at night, figuring it would extend the life of the pump and it did. The second one lasted 22 years but then, once again, there was a water outage and it too burned out.
So yes, I would recommend this pump, I only wish it had a sensor that would automatically shut off the pump when the water was turned off. (Was able to reuse the timer for the third one BTW)

Supply House provided good and speedy service. I can't say that about the pump, which replaced 59896125. The new pump's operation, 59896771, is noisier than the original. That was not what I expected. I expected the replacement to be as quiet as the original. The noise I find disturbing and can be heard through the house.

Does exactly what I bought it for
My water went out and burned out the circulator I've had in my house for the last 8 years. The way my house is plumbed, my kitchen sink and back bathroom are the last places to get hot water from hot water heater. The replacement took about 15 minutes and this stainless steel version (my old one wasn't) works like a champ. However, I did plug it into a Wi-Fi outlet so it doesn't run 24/7. When we need hot water at the faucets (generally in the evenings) I tell Siri to turn on the water circulator and 30 seconds later we're good to go.

The pump circulates hot water fine.
It works great for getting hot water to all faucets in the house.
It only gets a 4 stars because it makes a humming noise to all the bathrooms. The humming sounds low but really makes me feel uncomfortable. I have to turn it off at night for I can hear the noise from all bedrooms.

Q: The pump was left on when the water was turned off for about 1 hr. it now makes a grinding noise. Is this just air in the system and if so how do I bleed it out? How do I know if the pump is now bad

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffIt is to hard to say for sure but there is a chance the pump may be ruined by running it dry. The only thing to do is try to get the air out of the pump and make sure the shaft is turning freely. If that doesn't fix the issue then the whole pump will need to be replaced.

Q: Thanks for taking my question... my Grundfos p/n 59896125 just seized up after 11 years. It looks like the 59896771 is the replacement. However, the 771 has a 1/12hp rating and the 125 a 1/24hp. Is this a cause of concern, or should I look for a 1/24hp pump replacement?
