6 QuestionsQ: Hi, my 25 year old UP25-64sf just died, is the replacement a direct bolt in. Also, can I purchase the motor replacement alone? Thanks Tony

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffYes, the UPS15-55SFC is the direct replacement so it should bolt right into the existing flanges. There is a replacement cartridge for this current pump which is sku 599409.
Q: can this be used on hot water recirc.for potable water.to replace bronze taco 008.am trying to save $ and not buy bronze again.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffThis certainly can be used for hot water recirculation. The 008 bronze pump has been replaced by the 008-SF6 which is also a stainless steel pump but this would be a perfectly fine alternative as well, it has the 3 speed options so just compare the pump curves for accurate specification adjustments.
Q: my Grundfos 59896145 just went out. Whats the big difference between the two? My old one cost 3x more, is it any better then this one? I'm using it to recirculating hot water loop.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffThe main difference is the material, the original pump sku 59896145 is made of Bronze, and this pump is made of Stainless Steel. Also this pump is a three speed and has wider GPM and Ft of head ranges, where as the other is a single speed.

There is an arrow on the side or bottom
There is an arrow on the side of the body that tells you which direction the flow goes.
The direction of flow is indicated by a arrow inscribed in the metal of the base. You can reorient the motor to suit your installation needs.
The intake routes the liquid into the eye of the impeller, so it wraps down and then up into the center of the bottom of the pump case. It should have an arrow showing flow direction cast into the the case - see attached photo. JRC
Q: Which flanges go with the stainless steel pump? Is there a stainless flange? bronze?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffThis pump works with standard flanges. You will want to use either bronze or stainless steel. Taco makes stainless steel flanges that work with this pump.
Any flange of the same shape should match up with this pump.
I am not aware of any stainless flanges. Bronze flanges come with the kit and they work fine for any system.
Q: I have a return hot water system that has been iN service for 9 years. It recently failed. I am looking for another with a timer. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffWe would suggest a UP10-16BN5/ATLC, (SKU: 96433899) for your system. This UPS15-55SFC has a timer as well.
Grundfos has one with timer. Make sure the return line has a check valve and hose bib between the pump and water heater for purging the entire hot water return piping. I just replaced one that had been running without purging the line and the pump was ruined because of a faulty installation.
