Description

Honeywell 107408 Heat Conductive Compound, 4 ounces
A 4 oz heat transfer compound used in sensor wells to improve thermal contact for more accurate temperature sensing.

Key Features:
  • Heat conductive compound / heat transfer compound
  • Volume: 4 oz.
  • Stated use: for use in sensor wells for more accurate temperature sensing
  • Application listed as Maintenance

Compatibility & Applications:
  • Intended for use in sensor well applications where improved thermal contact is needed for temperature sensing .
  • Must only be used where the manufacturer specifies this exact part number: 107408.

Installation & Operation Notes:
  • Installation/application should be performed by a qualified technician or an installer familiar with temperature sensing devices and immersion well applications.
  • Refer to the controlled equipment's service/installation manual for the correct sensor/well installation method and any safety requirements.
  • Q&A guidance includes practical application tips for deep immersion wells (examples provided by respondents): using a utility syringe with tubing, a cotton swab, or a wooden stick to place compound into the well before inserting the sensing bulb.
  • Q&A includes a manufacturer limitation relayed by SupplyHouse: "Do not use above 300°F."

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • This compound is commonly used when a temperature sensor in a well is not sensing accurately due to poor thermal contact; applying heat transfer compound is intended to improve heat conduction between the sensor and the well .
  • If temperature control remains unstable after applying compound, follow the equipment's diagnostics for the specific sensor/controller and verify correct sensor placement and contact per the equipment documentation.

User Reviews & Q&A Summary:
  • Review themes commonly describe it as effective for Aquastat/immersion well temperature sensing applications, with users noting improved sensing behavior after use.
  • Several reviewers mention the container size is more than most users need for occasional service work (described as a "lifetime supply" for DIY use), and some comment that it feels expensive but necessary for the application.
  • Additional review use-cases include applying it as a heat transfer medium for other temperature-sensing/heat-sink style needs (examples mentioned include mini-split circuit boards and chiller temperature sensors).
  • Q&A themes focus on temperature limitation (300°F max use), application methods for getting compound into a deep well, and general "paste-like" consistency feedback.

A lifetime supply for a DIYer

30 years ago when buying a Honeywell Aquastat and a immersion well it would have come with just enough heat conductive paste in a tiny tube. This time there was none. The sensor was not working properly so I bought the smallest quantity of the paste I could find. I used about 1% of it. But it did exactly what it needed to do and the Aquastat began to behave properly. I will probably never buy it again because I have more than I will use in a lifetime. But I suggest that anyone installing an Aquastat be sure the well is making good thermal contact, and this paste assures adequate thermal conduction. It was expensive but necessary.

Well Maybe

Without before and after temperature testing no way to know if this stuff actually works,in any event I followed recommendations and used it,Aquastat seems to be operating correctly.

Great product

Great product worked perfectly for my needs, I only wish it came in a smaller amount as I literally needed a small blob and I would of bought it with the pump if I had known.

Good product

They used to include a small tube of this with Honeywell aquastats but quit doing it I think it makes the probe sense more accurately

You could use a utility syringe with a length of tubing over the end. Insert the tubing into the well all the way to the end and squeeze to compound from the syringe. Then insert the aqua stat probe and remove any excess compound that squeezes out.
