Just what I was after!

Works Exactly as Specified
The original mounting plate for the thermostat was not wide enough to account for the existing hole in the wall (old, plaster walls). This plate gave me just enough room to get the two screws into the wall where I needed them, and the plate covered any imperfection from the wall that went past the boundaries of the original thermostat.
