Description

High Capacity Thermostatic Radiator Valves with T104 Actuators provide control of temperature by modulating the flow of hot water or steam through free-standing radiators, convectors and other heating units with high capacity requirements.

Valves may be used with T104 Thermostatic Actuators.

Features
  • Designed with the higher capacity normally required by North American heating systems.
  • Valve seat disc, which is made of resilient material (EPDM), ensures tight shutoff on steam or hot water systems.
  • Nickel-plated bronze casted body with working parts in cartridge insert for ease of service.
  • All working parts are replaceable using service tool (MT110C1011) while valve remains in service, in-line, under pressure.
  • Valves normally open without control mounted.
  • Meet ASHRAE Standard 102-1989.

Found engineering and manufacturing problems with the valve.

Installed four of the thermostat valves to add zone temperature control to the second floor of a two-story residence. The installation instructions packaged with the valve and thermostat were printed in 1-point type face. Needed a powerful magnifying glass to read the instructions. Installed the valves in the second-floor bedrooms. iThree worked as advertised; one failed. RE: Installation The spud wrench from Supply House was made of zinc instead of steel, so I dared not use it to get the old bushing out of the radiator. I bought a 3/4" stainless steel bolt with a 2-inch shoulder, cut off the threaded end, and used a metal-cutting wheel on my table saw to make a spud wrench strong enough to work. It took a pipe wrench and a 4-foot helper to unscrew the old bushing from the radiator inlet. The spud wrench from Supply House easily inserted the new bushing into the radiator inlet. Had to use Teflon plumber tape to insulate the brass bushing from the cast-iron radiator to avoid galvanic corrosion. 94-year-old Swedish putty saved the radiator threads from the old brass bushing but refused to let go easily. The thermostats attached to the valve must be horizontal or thermally insulated from the radiator to work. They must not be located inside a radiator enclosure to work because the radiator heat closes the valve. The valve shown in your Internet ads should only be used if the inlet pipe is horizontal and comes from a wall that is behind and close to the radiator inlet instead of through the floor. If the furnace thermostat is located on the first floor, the radiator valves on that floor must be throttled to prevent furnace shutoff before the second floor radiators have enough time to reach the expected room temperature. In other words, the thermostat valves may be open, but nothing works if the furnace is not pumping hot water through the pipes. RE: Design and manufacture Honeywell outsourced these valves from Taiwan and Taiwan cut corners. To be continued.

Controls heat of single zone systems

My house had a problem with overheating the second floor. The original valves had to be hand throttled to control the heat and that would change almost every time the heat was on. The end result was the upstairs overheating and a lot of wasted heating water being returned to the boiler. With these valves and the thermostats that fit on them the first night the system was on we though the heating did not even turn on because we were use to being roasted alive in the bed. Great product; great future money savings.

beautiful radiator valve. it works!

This great thermostatic radiator valve is 250X better than that 100-year old frozen radiator valve I removed from that big 'ol standing cast iron radiator upstairs. AND it controls the amount of heat that big 'ol radiator pumps out!! No more over-heated room! More money in my pocket!!! What do you want. It's a valve. It works. BTW, even though the most common type of heating system around here is ancient hot water hydronic you CANNOT find these valves locally. The local plumbing houses don't even know what the word "thermostatic" means! (slap hand on face)
