These AM-1 Series models can be installed in any position consistent with the intended use.
Honeywell does not offer the adjustment knob as a replacement part at this time.
This valve can be set up to 140°F. See Page 2 of the Installation Instructions ( http://s3.pexsupply.com/manuals/1299090484970/49427_PROD_FILE.pdf ) for details on how to adjust the temperature setting. The manufacturer does not recommend going above 120°F because water hotter than that can cause serious injuries.
I can answer my own question now. This valve comes in two heat ranges: "Standard" and "C". The instructions state: AM-1 “C” Series models with the temperature range, 70°F–120°F (21°C–49°C) and "Standard" models with temperature range 70°F–145°F (21°C–63°C. If you get the "C" series you had better plumb your dishwasher separately, as 120 degree water coming out of the valve is not very desirable for a dishwasher.
