switch over device

I use this for turning on a fan for a fan coil or to operate a 3-way valve to seitch between a wood boiler and fossil fuel boiler
VS

Most Liked Negative Review

These are garbage, but at least they're expensive

These used to be a "buy it once and it will run for decades" and I have had to replace nearly every one I've installed in the last couple years. I use them to switch from a wood boiler to backup furnace burner when the temp in the pipe drops, and after about a year, they stop reading the temp correctly and on a 180 degree pipe will have to be dialed all the way down to the bottom end of the scale to switch. they've cost me hundreds or maybe thousands in service calls and replacement parts. I will never be using them again.

I would buy again

Replaced failing (had cracks in bulb) mercury switch aquastat with this new thermostat. Properly disposed mercury aquastat as hazardous waste.

I would buy this again.

I put a heater running off the hot water heating .this controls the fan when the heat comes on. I did use a hose clamp to mount it to the pipe works better then the supplied hardware.

I would buy this product again, but

The manufacturer needs to improve the pipe strapping method. I realize that the existing strapping method has been used for decades, but it is well past time to improve upon it. One area needed improvement is a way to more securely attach the unit to the pipe requiring temperature monitoring - especially on smaller diameter pipes. The existing method using multi-hole strap, tends to not allow for doing so, and one can't effectively get the bolt through two straps that are close enough so that when pulled together the unit tightens to the pipe to hold in desired specific position sufficiently so that vibration does not cause the unit to rotate out of position.

Great for boiler thermal purge

I just installed two of these on our two oil boilers. Strapped them onto the supply pipe coming out of the boiler and wired them to the main aquastat circulator contact. They supply power to the circulator after boiler shutdown to continue extracting residual heat from the boiler. I have them set to stop when supply water temp drops below 90 degrees. So far they're working great.

Definitely worth it. Local supply house sold us wrong item.

Ordered as a replacement due to local Supply house selling us a used item and it was wrong. SupplyHouse.com always comes through when needed. Most of the time we have what we need next day seems like. Thank you.

ASK A QUESTION

Q: What is the ideal temperature set and differential set for this set up? It appears that my system will always blow out cool air before the system eventually stops heating. This seems to lower the temperature down. Why can it not stop while warm air is blowing through the air vents? I currently set it at 130 degrees with a differential of 5

A surface mount (strap-on aquastat) senses the temperature of the surface (ex. metal heats to 170 °F then starts to cool). The air gets cool (cold) before the surface adjusts to the temperature.

Q: I am looking for an aquastat with the contact to remain closed up to the 200 degrees max. on a temperature rise above an adjustable 120 - 160 degrees F. What affect does the 5-30F Adj Differential have on this requirement? I need about 3 feet of capalliry. Would this be a good choice?

When you use an adjustable differential, the boiler will cycle at the temperature that you set the differential at. It is a good choice and we recommend to use it. However, this is a strap on aqua stat that goes on directly to the pipe, it is not a capillary type.

Q: I have a model L6006A1145 aquastat and I am trying to regulate the water temp on my outdoor furnace I have the aquastat set at 175 deg. and the differential set at 5 but the aquastst will not let the blower come on until the temp gets down to 160 deg. which by then lets the fire get to low. This is the second one I have put on and i had the same problem with the first one

This is an SPDT switch and you may have wired it backwards. You need it to make on temperature rise.

Q: Which temperature switch is compatable with a L6006A1327. I need this one but can not find it. I believe is has a strap on mount. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The replacement for the L6006A1327 is the L6006A1012.

Q: Thank you for your response. Just to confirm, a L6006C1018 set at 65 degrees, and the dirrerential set at 30 degrees will allow the pump to operate at water temperatures between 35 degrees and 95 degrees. Above 95 degrees, the switch would break, and the pump would stop. Thanks for your help

According to the manufacturer, this is correct in heating applications.

Q: I recently purchased a L6006C, and it is not doing what we need it to. What we are trying to do is shut down a pump if the temperature in a pipe exceeds 90 degrees. So we are looking for and aquastat which has a closed swithc from 30 degrees up to 90 degrees. When the temp exceeds 90 degrees, the swithc needs to break. I can't figure out what the L6006C is doing. I have the thermostat set at 80, and the water temp is 60, and the switch breaks. Please let me know what your recomendations are. Thank you, Greg Prol Van Vugt Greenhouses Inc.

The L6006C is a series number, you may have a version of that series that does not meet all of the requirements you are looking for. The last 4 numbers on the unit differentiate one model from another. The L6006C1018 has an operating temperature of 65- 200 degrees with up to a 30 degree differential. It will break on temperature rise, so if that is what you are looking to do it will work for that application.

Q: Can I use this to control a fan on a Moden heater?

Aquastats can be used on heaters to regulate the water temperature. The specific model that is compatible with the heater would have to be confirmed with a certified installer or the manufacturer of the heater.

Q: I am looking for a aquastat to break on temperature rise above 100 degrees F. I also need about 5 feet of capalliry. Would this be a good choice?

This unit can either break or make on temperature rise and has a 5ft capillary.
